Where do thoughts come from?

We think thoughts throughout the day without giving thought to where they come from. Where do thoughts come from?

Our thoughts come from processes within our brain and within other organs that work together to store memories, invoke instinctive understanding, and imagine unknown. The processes have tangible and intangible elements, so that they are hard to grasp.

It would appear that tackling the tangible elements would be an easier starting point, but that is not the case. The connection of brain to thought processing is complex and fragmented.

Instinctive understanding resides within the skin and within the pancreas. This understanding is transmitted to the brain together with nerve impulses and  non-tangible energy flow. Memory processing involves the brain with the blood flow and the synapses. This processing is a full body effort, with “storage” spread differently, depending on physical attributes and body mass. Imagination and its ability to move beyond intellectual barriers is brain-centered, but it receives nudges and ideas from connection to the universe.

With all that in mind, where do our thoughts come from?

They come from the flowers and the trees, and the four-legged critters and the ones that fly. They come from examining our fingers and our toes and from hearing the words of others. They come from touching the ground and staring at the sky, and from considering the wonder within us and the magnificence around. Our thoughts come from living with curiosity, which comes from the spleen and the movement of bones. Thoughts seem to appear, but in reality they are formulated in the brain with input from those who came before and from the body parts mentioned earlier. Our thoughts are our own, but they move in a realm that is beyond our physicality and our mortality. Our thoughts bind us to the humans before us and the ones to come. Our thoughts make us human.

This information is presented with guidance from Spirit and input from some who lived before. It is open for scientific exploration for those who choose to understand the wonder!

Headaches and Migraines—What They Mean, cont.

Migraines and headaches are signs that bodily communications have been ignored, and the body is yelling for attention! The attention needed for migraines differs from the attention needed for headaches, but both are cries for relief. Relief from the medicine cabinet is usually the relief the body doesn’t like, and this “solution” is best saved for last place.

The relief for migraines is discussed in this blog post. Headaches are discussed in the previous post https://energy-guidance-complete.com/2017/06/01/headaches-and-migraines-what-they-mean/

Migraineland

It’s a place that is entered suddenly or in stages, and once entered, it commands attention. Migraineland is experienced by all ages, and it is a way of living that is sometimes passed from generation to generation.

The causes that unleash the reality of Migraineland living are many, and each person lives the reality with individualized distress. Sensitivities to foods or cleansers or sounds can delineate a direction into migraine territory, so that their influence actually initiates a migraine or encourages other migraine activators to initiate migraine domination of the body.

Other migraine activators are: sleep deficiency, seasonal fluctuations, uninterrupted viewing of screens for too long, medications that produce migraine reactions, ignoring the urge to defecate, constipation, contact with poisonous substances, light (natural and artificial), daily encounters with crowded living, abrupt changes in altitude (for example, when climbing a mountain) or speed (for example, when riding a roller coaster), erratic eating, compression of spinal nerve roots in the spinal cord, inactivity of the ileocecal valve in the small intestine, and certain metals. These activators can initiate a migraine or encourage other activators to initiate migraine domination of the body.

A person’s emotional state can also initiate a migraine or encourage other migraine activators to initiate migraine domination of the body. Emotional activators are worry, sorrow, constant suspicious view of others, feeling that overwhelming sense of guilt, self-induced or externally applied pressure, and weariness and sadness from societal tragedies and events that are not directly felt but cause personal anguish.

These emotional activators initiate different types of migraines. Their appearance varies throughout a person’s life, and they prompt migraines when they have emotional control of a person’s thinking. Emotional activators are not easy to see as causes of migraines, but they are very involved in creating Migraineland.

Sometimes a child learns migraine suffering from a parent. Migraines are not genetic, but they live within mimicable behavior and adapt to lifestyle differences. The experience of a migraine is a bonding rite of passage for a parent who unwittingly teaches the child to suffer. Intergenerational suffering in Migrainelands’ clasping grasp and possessiveness belies the differences that create each person’s set of migraine initiators.

To understand migraines demands understanding consequences. Migraines build upon dysfunction in the body. Dysfunction differs in each body so that the migraines differ in presentation, which confuses healing steps.

To heal migraines requires understanding the consequences of choices, limitations, and outlook. Each person suffering with migraines creates a personal Migraineland. To prevent migraines, Migraineland must be squeezed down and not be entered. Closing down Migraineland heals the migraine way of life.

Migraines become a way of life, a way that is off the true path of living. The efforts required to let them go are sometimes confusing, but they bring relief and healing.

Note: Spiritual Presence shares this information so that the path to healing can be understood.

Headaches and Migraines—What They Mean

Headaches and migraines are signs that bodily communications have been ignored, and the body is yelling for attention. The attention needed for headaches differs from the attention needed for migraines, but both are cries for relief. Relief from the medicine cabinet is usually the relief the body doesn’t like, and this “solution” is best saved for last place.

The relief for headaches is discussed in this blog post. Migraines are discussed in the next post: https://energy-guidance-complete.com/2017/06/07/headaches-and-migraines-what-they-mean-cont/

Headaches occur for many reasons. Here are a few of them: (1) missing water (slight to serious dehydration), (2) discomfort in the surrounding temperature (too cold, too artificial [air conditioning/heating], or too controlled [as in an airplane]), (3) feelings of incompetence or stress, and (4) hunger.

Headaches are signs that communications about discomfort have been ignored. The body reacts to the unheeded warnings by directing protective responses to the areas that are suffering and giving a more insistent sign, which can be a headache. The headache is not the body’s discomfort cause, but it becomes a focus that needs attention.

“Curing” the headache will help the body if the cure addresses the causes of the headache.

If the cause is dehydration, then drinking water lessens the headache and rehydrates the body. If the cause is temperature discomfort, then changing locations, putting on warmer clothing, or adjusting position and breathing (when location can’t be changed) lessen the headache and comfort the body. If the cause is feelings of incompetence or stress, assuaging the headache necessitates understanding that self-imposed negativity can be changed, questioning current direction appropriateness, or applying less pressure to achieve. If the cause is hunger, then eating foods that sustain lessens the headache and placates starvation.

Relief for the headache comes from relief for the headache instigators. Without relieving the causes of headaches, the body communication systems suffer and further distress can occur.

Four reasons for headaches have been presented, but there are many more. Here are others: shallow breathing, sleep deprivation, posture that constricts flows, headwear that is too binding, overall weakening of muscles, focus that is too concentrated, and disappointment that constantly replays in the mind. Each of these reasons for headaches has its cure. Each reason uses headaches to grab attention.

Dessert Substitutes

Sweetness can come from many places.

A relaxed walk after a satisfying meal can offer the body a “sweet” treat that aids digestion and boosts the mind. A conversation filled with smiles and kind words can satisfy the desire for security, even more than chocolate can. An after-dinner enjoyment of a favorite pastime or hobby can assuage the appetite for sugar. A meal that gives entertainment to the senses through appetizing aromas and flavors needs no aftertaste of dessert.

Dessert that is nutritionally sound provides sweetness within context of a nutritionally sound meal. Dessert that is nutritionally bereft tantalizes the eyes and pleases the mouth, but upsets the digestive system and causes myriad negative irritations in the body.

When the urge for sweetness overcomes sensible treatment of the body, remember that there are dessert substitutes that satisfy the calls for momentary gratification, escape from unhappiness, or sweet addiction.

Would cancer disappear if we all took care of our bodies?

I posed this question to Spiritual Presence, and here is the answer I received.

Another question has to be answered first. This question is: What causes cancer? Here is the answer:

Cancer develops when the body confuses itself. Confusion can come from sudden causes like exposure to powerful carcinogens and from slow developing causes like tobacco and sodium nitrite. Once confusion begins, the body opens to changes in functionality, which opens the way for cancerous growths to form. Cancer takes hold when the body cannot stop its development.

There are chemical causes and nutritional causes. There are emotional causes and genetic triggers. There are also natural contributors and internal agitators.

That’s the general answer to the first question. Now for the second question: would cancer disappear if we all took care of our bodies?

Answer: The intensity and frequency of cancer would significantly reduce. Cancer would not disappear completely because of pollution, accidents (when accidents hurt the body, sometimes cancerous growths can occur), and social isolation.

Here are the things you can do to reduce your body’s confusion:

  1. Remove poisons from your life. They include (a) health treatments that list cancer as a side effect or possible side effect, (b) overconsumption of alcoholic beverages, (c) cigarettes and other tobacco products, (d) poisonous cleaning products (products that have poisonous warning labels on them), and (e) exposure to known cancer-causing sources (such as asbestos).
  2. Be aware of pollutants in your areas of home, work, school, and recreation. If you live in an area that is known to have carcinogenic aspects, and you cannot move, be sure to choose recreational activities in an area that is free of similar carcinogens.
  3. If you walk in areas with concentrated car or airplane fumes, do not linger in those areas. If you have daily exposure to these fumes, drink water before and after the exposure.
  4. The more deeply you breathe, the more your body can repair itself. Practice breathing techniques regularly. At night, breathe deeply when lying in bed before sleep to increase the rejuvenating work of sleep.
  5. Part of the body’s care of itself takes place when the body is moving. Exercise and movement are therapies for the body to prevent cancer. Attitude affects the body’s care of itself so if you dislike the exercise you have chosen to do, it will not have the same protective value as exercise you enjoy. Breathing deeply when exercising increases the protective value of the exercise. Walking is the basic exercise that provides protection.
  6. The ill effects of ingredients in processed foods are somewhat known. Don’t eat known or suspected carcinogenic ingredients. Shelf-life preservatives are not protective of the body. Eating fresh foods is best.
  7. Sitting in bed so that the stomach is a table for a book, food, or electronic device interferes with body circulation. Circulation of flows in the body is very important. Improve your posture when standing, sitting, and carrying heavy objects.
  8. Live life with more positivity. When you eat, remember to be thankful and remember to eat moderately. Focus on the parts of the body that don’t hurt rather than the parts that do (and take care of the parts that hurt rather than suffer unnecessarily). Nourish your intellect, and choose intellectual challenges that are interesting. Be kind to yourself.
  9. Protect against the sun’s rays and feel the sun on your body during the less hot times of the day. Working in buildings that have no sunlight streaming in confuses the body’s defenses. Exposure to sunlight is important.
  10. Anxiety experienced when deciding about minor issues (for example, parking the car) is immune system lowering. Releasing anxiety is healing.
  11. Doing work and engaging in life events that upset you are immune system lowering. If you can’t change the work or the life decisions, find positivity in them and release the frustration.
  12. The development of cancer can be slow. Changing one’s lifestyle when the cancer is non-apparent can decrease its growth, especially if the changes include positivity about life decisions and attitude.
  13. Clothing that is dry cleaned, disliked but worn anyway, or too constricting can contribute to immune system lowering. For people who care about the clothes they wear, the clothing should be uplifting.
  14. Spiritual connection can strengthen the body, if the connection is sincere. People who are disconnected from spirituality can be strengthened through connection to nature. The connection to “beyond oneself” is strengthening.

The host of the show, Pat Rullo, asked about my journey to Energy Guidance Complete, and we discussed the effects it has had on my life. We focused on my work with individual people, on aging and the book Samba ‘til the End, addiction to screens, the sense of superiority and its effect on conflict, my food blog, and the importance of building connections.

Listen in and let me know what you think. I’m excited about sharing Energy Guidance Complete with a larger audience!

My path to Energy Guidance Complete starts

In the previous blog post “My path to Energy Guidance Complete”, I shared the section of the path at which I began to write the spiritual wisdom I was receiving. Today, I’m going to share the moments of fusion! The moments when acceptance occurred! The moments when Spiritual Presence called and I followed!

As I wrote in the previous post, there were hints of the connection earlier. Years before the connection occurred, there was a moment of realization that I was being called, but I was afraid and I rejected the connection. It was too big for me at the time.

By the time the second call came, I was less afraid and more open to the wisdom. The second call was less direct than the first. It came in stages and advanced with my initiative. It came after I was comfortable working with Libra Method, the treatment for balancing the vertebrae to relieve pain in the spine and muscles. It came after I was comfortable using techniques that tap into healing unconventional. It came after I was aware of healing that defies logic. And it came when I was unafraid.

The summer of 2012! The momentous summer when my fusion with Spiritual Presence began! As described in the book  Exploring Energy Guidance Complete, My Journey:

“In the summer of 2012, I attended the annual Libra Method seminar for Libra practitioners. The subject of using Applied Kinesiology on oneself was discussed, and when I left the seminar, I decided to try it on myself as a tool to lose weight. I happily discovered that self-testing worked for me and I quickly embraced the ability of knowing which foods to eat, portion sizes, and appropriate exercise.” (Self-testing is explained on the “About”  page.)

Not long after, my ailing father became worse and I was told that I should hurry to the U.S. to be with him. As I sat on the airplane, I felt the need for support so I used self-testing to ask for it. I received connection with my beloved deceased mother. This connection enabled me to relate to my father in a beyond-myself way and it enabled me to be supportive of my siblings and stepmother. When I returned to Israel, I was able to mourn in a way that uplifted myself, enriched my immediate family, and enlightened my community. I also connected to my deceased father as I was connected to my mother.

After experiencing self-testing for weight loss and spiritual support, I was emboldened to explore my capabilities. I asked the question “What else can I know?” and the universe opened and flooded me with information. The beginnings of information inundation were thrilling, awe-inspiring, and unfocused. I asked about unsolved crimes and current events. I grasped the cause of an inhospitable force in a public building in my community and eased it out. I learned about cures and solutions, sadness and unhappiness, illnesses and afflictions, personality traits and natural preferences. I invaded people’s private spaces and learned that doing so is forbidden without permission. I soared in the sky, while pretending to be a normal, feet-on-the-ground person. I expanded my Libra practice to include advice about precise exercises and healing. I continued to lose weight in a healthful way and heal myself… I talked about these new developments with a few close friends and family. And, I started to write.” (The writing is described in the previous blog post.)

The start of our connection was so natural—it’s hard for me to explain to others just how comfortable the connection feels. It’s like being with your mentor and closest confidante all the time. It’s like having all the answers and wanting to raise your hand every time a question is asked. But it’s also hard to explain to others, and harder yet when they dismiss or covet my closeness to Spiritual Presence.

The connection grows, and it is not meant for me to keep to myself. The connection is a gift to us all—not just for me—and my role is not to be envied. I have become the voice of Spiritual Presence in this time and the words are from beyond.

Each book that I write and each blog post that I share contains the words of divinity. When you read them, forget that I appear as the author and remember the connection of human with Spirit.

My Path to Energy Guidance Complete

My path to Energy Guidance Complete started way before the connection materialized. Hints of the connection didn’t reveal to me the depth of the connection to come.

Sensing my future started in my teens, but my focus was too scattered by teenage concerns. Building the years in-between the first inkling of connection and the actual connection was based on family and societal expectations, and not on my own needs and true calling.

The summer of 2012! I was ready for the connection without realizing what the connection would bring. I was using the connection to achieve personal balance when the push came to increase the connection.

At the time, I was following my desire to forego the lifestyle that was not true to me and was focusing my energy on work that brought physical healing to others. (The work is described in the blog post “Body Care” and is called Libra Method, which is a treatment for balancing the vertebrae to relieve pain in the spine and muscles.)

The push and subsequent awareness are described in the book Exploring Energy Guidance Complete, My Journey:

“The writing began one day when I suffered from knee pain and turned to Libra Method for help. I used self-testing to determine that I could heal the pain using a body meridian, which is a technique from Applied Kinesiology that uses Chinese medicine. Self-testing revealed that using the pathway of a meridian could help me, but none of the usual meridians could help. Perplexed, I asked the question ‘Is there a meridian that I don’t know?’ and received an affirmative response. I asked ‘Is there someone who can teach me about this meridian?’ and learned that nobody in Israel, nor anywhere else, could teach me. Hesitatingly, I asked the question ‘Am I going to learn about a meridian that no one else knows?’ and the answer was affirmative. I read about meridian attributes and used self-testing to write, word by word, about this new meridian.” (Self-testing is explained on the “About”  page and the meridian is described in the blog post “The Spiritual Connection Meridian”.) …

“While writing about the meridian, I began to receive information about another healing technique. I wrote about the second healing technique, and again, while writing about it, I began to receive information about a third healing technique. After this pattern occurred several more times, I started using the techniques in my Libra practice. The results were good, and I publicized my work at a networking group.  I continued to write the information I received and it became a seventeen-technique system called “The Body Wholeness System” for healing the body and spirit.

Towards the end of writing The Body Wholeness System handbook, I began to receive information about another set of healing techniques. Soon after completing the first handbook, I started on the second. These healing techniques connect—connect a person to body, emotions, environment, and to other people. They also connect to spirit. These techniques are part of Energy Guidance Complete, and they have physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual impact.

Work with Libra Method became less focused on just physical healing of pain and more on emotional factors and other influences. With Libra Method I could heal back, neck, and joint pain, but mostly if the cause of the pain was physical. For pain that had other factors, I brought in Energy Guidance Complete. Spiritual nudging led me to collect various knickknacks and items in my clinic, and I used them more and more in my work to help with wider health issues. People I helped began to tell others, and I gained confidence to talk about Energy Guidance Complete.

Awareness of a new direction nudged me, and I began to write additional information I received. This information started as separate essays. After writing several essays, I understood that something larger was being written. These wisdom essays became the first volume in the “Existence-Me Elevated Living” book series. I understood that I would be writing a series of seven books.

The first one was especially exciting to write, for I was amazed at each word that materialized from my questioning. I learned to ask questions in a focused manner, and the words began to flow onto the computer. The Gift of Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort was captivating for me—captivating to write and captivating to read. Writing each book has been an amazing, humbling, and enriching experience.”…

“Once I knew that I would be writing book after book, I understood that my purpose is to spread guidance and information. The healing sessions are important, but the main work is to reach many more people through the writing. I have access to Spiritual Presence and I am to enable people to have a glimpse into spiritual wisdom.”

Superiority: negative sense of self

The last group of blog posts has focused on the negative aspects of the sense of superiority. Personally I have found these posts to be challenging, because I have had to confront my own prejudices and ingrained sense of superiority.

My actions have been influenced by my society’s treatment of me, but I had chosen to accept preferential treatment without questioning the justice of it. Preferential treatment has been habit-forming and I now have to choose to break the habit. Not so easy!

With superiority comes a sense of deservedness, and with the sense of deservedness comes the sense of expectation that others will serve, and with the sense of expectation that others will serve comes the expectation that authority will be recognized, and with the expectation that authority will be recognized comes the insecurity that undeservedness underpins authority, and this sense of insecurity pushes the drive for feeling superior. The core of superior sense of self is inferiority, a negative sense of self.

Looking over the possible reasons for feeling “superior”: nationality, financial security, gender, race, religion, social status, physical attributes, intellectual gifts, athletic prowess, and celebrity—the sense of superiority can feel inevitable. In actuality, it is a choice that can be rejected or embraced.

The sense of superiority is a negative sense of self that requires eradication. Letting go of the sense of superiority should be a societal priority that each person can pursue individually and as members of a just and caring society.

The various causes of superior sense of self are presented in these blog posts:

Superiority is not a word to describe a religion

Many paths of elevation are available and desirable for reaching connection with God.

Solitary prayer unites divinity with creation for the moments the connection is true. Prayer in grouped agreement unites divinity with creation for elevated connection when the connection is sincere. Both solitary prayer and grouped prayer are paths to God.

Grouped prayer that is developed into set pronouncements with set movements removes creativity in building spiritual connection, but encourages human connection. Repetition of “scripts” and routine observances enable feelings of human connection that transcend death. The connection can bind the living with the dead who preceded them and bind the living with future generations.

Grouped prayer connects the people who accept the group’s observances and concept of divinity. Acceptance offers approach to God, scripts that guide the approach, and vision to ponder Almighty, the majestic energy that connects all.

Sincere dedication to life lived with awareness of connection to God is realistic. The connection focuses and elevates daily living.

Dedication to the grouped approach to God—to a religion—is dedication missing the meaning. Religion is an access way to connection to God, not the destination. Elevating the religion rather than the divine connection disconnects the people from God.

Religions are approaches, they are not possessions. They do not need to be compared or debated.

Superiority is not a word to describe a religion. No religion that is based on the connection with God is better than any other. Feeling superior because of religious affiliation lessens the beauty of the religion.

As God shares in the book, Faith— A Wisdom Poem Sharing Spiritual Connection:

NO ONE GROUP HAS ACCESS
ABOVE OTHERS.

NO GROUP HAS THE
ANSWERS.

NO GROUP IS CLOSER TO SPIRIT
THAN ANY OTHER.

NO GROUP SPEAKS
FOR SPIRIT.

SPIRIT IS FOR ALL
= EQUALLY =

SPIRIT IS ALL-COME-TO-ME-JUSTLY!
Come justly without harm
To any others.

Built to feel superior, internally and by others

Superiority is a learned behavior.

A child is self-interested, because he has his own concerns that consume his attention. This behavior is inborn. The child focuses on himself, not from a sense of superiority, but from the need to survive.

The child encounters others with curiosity, joy, and fear. When a caregiver over-elevates the child’s sense of himself, encounters with others have lessened curiosity, joy, and fear and more expectations of subservience (by the others).

Internal sense of superiority develops from a young age and can be based on gender, race, physical appearance, and attitude. Later comes superiority based on social standing, intelligence, and financial status. Subservient behavior by others and athletic prowess can increase the sense of superiority.

Feeling superior can be intricate, based on all the causes set out above, or it can be single-cause—no matter, the sense of superiority is there. It affects all relationships and all interactions.

Societal sense of superiority, like individual sense of superiority, is learned. The entire society can feel superior, as in an overinflated opinion of race or nationality or it can be bestowed upon members of society who are treated “better” because of gender, physical appearance, financial power, athletic prowess, and other factors (like fashion sense or musical/artistic abilities).

Superiority infuses society with discontent and entitlement. Superiority brings envy and distancing. Each individual builds the societal sense of superiority with internal feelings of being better than or by accepting the societal definitions of superior race or gender or subservient expectations.

Superiority is a learned behavior. It is not innate.

Not all people feel superior nor do they accept societal divisions of superiority. These people are living in a constructive and balanced way. Their example is worth following.

This message is from Spirit. If you act superior to others, your behavior is wrong. Accept differences and release arrogance.

Spirit gives more wisdom about harmful superiority thinking in these posts:

Are men or women superior? Neither!

The focus of recent blog posts has been on the sense of superiority. Today’s post contests superiority by virtue of a chromosomal setting.

The setting for sexual existence—as a male or as a female—determines gender but does not bestow superiority. Gender superiority galvanizes unnaturally through bewildered understanding of males by females and of females by males.

Unnatural is the word to describe superiority based on gender, because there should be no superiority based on gender. Acceptance of the other is the natural rhythm. Building ideas about the other gender that creates superiority actions and treatment stops the natural rhythm of acceptance.

Males and females are equally important and feelings of superiority by either sex are mistaken. Differences exist, but they are irrelevant in nature.

This message is from Spirit. If you act superior to the other sex because you think your gender is more gifted, you are wrong. Accept the differences and release arrogance.

Spirit gives more wisdom about harmful superiority thinking in these posts:

Superiority by Nationality

Countries group people by location, historical development, and geographical reality, which nationalistic feelings elevate.

Superiority by nationality is the viewing of all other nationalities in a condescending way. Feeling better than everyone who lives outside one’s own country is a sense of superiority that is confrontational behavior and enemy building.

Geographical reality creates differences among countries, because some countries are situated with enviable conditions and resources that inspire jealousy or resentment.

A country possessing enviable conditions and resources often maintains citizens who feel entitled to their reality and are possessive of it. Adjacent countries may have conditions and resources that are also deserving of pride, but the other country’s richness seems desirous, and so, the citizens of the adjacent countries may feel resentful or covetous. The clash of entitlement and resentment can lead to rivalries, racism, and wars.

Superiority by nationality describes relationships among countries, but it can also describe relationships among areas within a country, towns within a province, neighborhoods within a city, and loyalty to schools or universities.

At each level, location, historical development, and geographical reality affect how citizens see their environment and the environments of those who inhabit rival territories. Those who feel they have more behave differently from those who feel deprived. Each side can feel superior and relate to the other as less than. The feelings of superiority at the smaller levels can lead to rivalries, treachery, and self-destruction.

————–

People receive the life they are born into and some receive more ease than others, but their circumstances do not entitle them to feel superior. The more a person has, the more he or she should feel grateful and open to those with less.

Spirit is sharing wisdom about  feelings of superiority:

Releasing the Undeserved Sense of Superiority

Yesterday’s post, Undeserved Superiority, yells at us to acknowledge our feelings of superiority over others and to then stop! Stop thinking we’re better than someone else because of our social standing or our religion or our race (among other things that make us feel superior).

I stopped and looked at my own upbringing and my own undeserved sense of superiority over some others and I was shocked at myself. My sense of better-than-some-others needs my acknowledgment and my work to release it. I know it won’t be easy, but I realize my thinking makes me an unempathetic person and I want to change. This look at myself reminds me of an experience I had three years ago when I was visiting in Los Angeles. I share that blog post now as a reminder to myself and to others about how our upbringing can lift or lower us, but that we are all similar. Here is the post from March 27, 2014:

Life is struggle: meeting with people unknown

  • Unwanted, unacknowledged, untended, underfed, unappreciated, unloved, unnoticed, undervalued, undone. The life of the drunk man who sneaked on the bus today and sat by me.
  • Wanted, acknowledged, tended, fed, appreciated, loved, noticed, valued, empowered. My life.

I was riding on an L.A. Metro bus waiting for my soon-to-arrive stop, when the bus stopped to let people off and he sneaked in from the back door and sat next to me. His breath reeked of alcohol, he was dirty, and he was hoping to avoid the notice of the bus driver. He was hopeful that I would not make a fuss, because his day had been one more difficult day in the accumulating number of difficult days that are his life. He didn’t really choose me; I was simply sitting in a convenient place for him to slide in.

I told him that I was about to get off so he shouldn’t sit there, but he ignored me. He spoke somewhat incoherently and I didn’t understand what he said. I told him he hadn’t paid and he started to panic and began talking about how he lives in the Hollywood Hills and is very rich, and the alcohol smell was strong. I felt very uncomfortable and decided to change the subject because he seemed agitated and was moving closer. I talked about the unseasonable rain in L.A. that morning and he was distracted. He realized I wasn’t going to say anything to the bus driver so he became chatty. But then he asked me my name, gave me his, tried to take my hand, really reeked of alcohol.

I was unsure what to do but then we reached my stop, and I told him to press the button for me because we had arrived at my stop. He moved and I pressed the button and asked him to let me out. I was unsure—afraid he might get off and follow me, unsure whether to just go out the back door or go to the front and notify the bus driver, unprepared for this situation. He turned slightly in his seat barely giving me room to get by. I grabbed my things close, forgot my scarf, and exited the bus from the back. He didn’t follow. I felt relieved, noticed my forgotten scarf, walked the wrong way and then corrected my direction.

And what about him? He felt gratitude towards me that I had remained silent, sat quietly for the rest of the trip, got off at his stop to continue his usual existence.

The message from Spirit: Two hearts beating a little too fast. Two lives being lived—one with acceptance, the other with rejection. Both equal.

Spirit is sharing wisdom about  feelings of superiority:

Undeserved Superiority

Here is an important message from Spirit.

Superiority is a strange phenomenon. All people are similar, and yet, there are some who consider themselves superior. These people believe that race membership, financial position, gender affiliation, nationality, and/or education entitle them to raised social status. Physical attractiveness, athletic prowess, and fashion taste are other factors in people acting superior.

Religious superiority is the most destructive belief of all. No religious group has closer connection to God than any other. No group!

The sense of superiority is distancing and it clouds judgment when interacting with others. The sense of superiority tarnishes dialogue and creates contempt. As people distance, misjudge, and condescend, they define a society that is uncaring and disconnected. Such a society cannot nurture its member or provide empathy.

Spirit is clear that a sense of superiority is wrong thinking about oneself and others.

There are a few exceptions when the superiority comes from care for the environment. Everyone who puts their own needs below their care for the environment deserves to feel good about their actions. Focusing on care for the environment has no connection to race, religion, gender, nationality, financial position, physical attractiveness, athletic prowess, or fashion taste.

Respect for the environment unites us all!

“The journey through life is a series of starts and stops, U-turns and wrong turns, ups and downs, unobstructed paths and no entry areas, straight and obvious routes and winding and precarious backstreets, unpredictable events and constant rhythms. The journey through life is perceived as difficult, or difficult and interesting, or difficult and unfair, or difficult and deserved, or difficult and surmountable, or difficult and this-or-that. The journey through life is varied in length; a short life is mourned and a long life is accepted. The journey through life is similar for all in that it starts with a breath and ends with a gasp (except in cases of sudden unnatural death).”
…from Oneself—Living

We all enter life with stumbling blocks in front of us. Some stumbling blocks are more difficult to pass and some stop us completely. The journey is meant to be trial-and-tribulation full, not smooth-sailing-the-whole-way. The idea that life is supposed to be easy is a marketing ploy that cripples and weakens us. Life is not a laundry detergent commercial with all the stains coming out, clean as new. Life is complex! Yes it is, and the more we prepare for complexity, the more we can exalt in the journey.

Here is guidance for the journey:

  • Learn to breathe properly and variedly. Knowing how to breathe through the changes in life will help you stay focused and well.
  • Develop your senses. Use your eyes to study the world. Use your nose to create memories. Use your ears to connect with animals and plants. Use your mouth to nourish your body. Use your hands to create. Use your bodily awareness to connect with other people.
  • Know yourself. Know the things that draw you to them and the things that repel. Know your temperament and accept it. Know your abilities and your drive. The more you know yourself, and live accordingly, the more you can live truthfully.

“Each step towards balanced living has repercussions for future satisfaction with one’s life. Deliberate work towards wellness, physical and mental, paves the way for life that is enriching. Deliberately choosing activities that better oneself, one’s community, and the surrounding environment rather than choosing activities that distract, paves the way for a life that is rewarding.”

Generalizations about Good Health

Breathe

The importance of eating well, exercising, and sleeping enough are well known. Here are reminders about steps towards good health.

  • Sitting at a table while eating improves digestion. Eating while cooking, while moving, and when driving do not.
  • Each person determines the amount of water that is right for him or her. Time of day and season influence. So do age and stress.
    • Everyone should drink water when they arise.
    • Young people need more water than old people.
    • Seasonal considerations for drinking water: shorter daylight (in winter months) requires less water than longer daylight (in summer months).
    • Warm water is better than cold water when the body is tired. It is also better when the immune system is stressed physically or emotionally.
    • General guidelines for water consumption can be considered when determining amounts of water to drink, but the variables listed here should also be considered.
  • By breathing deeply, the body handles emotional changes better. Whenever emotional turmoil occurs, deep breathing and water can help regulate the turmoil.
  • The requirements for movement depend on food consumption, personality, attention capabilities, and seasons.
    • Eating the amount of food the body needs fuels the appropriate amount of exercise based on the three other variables.
    • More movement is required by people who are high energy personalities.
    • The environments in which focus is required add or subtract from movement needs: focus during physical work uses extended expenditures of movement; focus during sedentary work pressures muscles and elimination processes to accelerate reminders to use them.
    • Variations in temperature influence the body’s push towards movement.
  • Activity in the body during sleep is different from activity during awake time. Both types of activity are equally important, just different. Sleep should be scheduled and should be evaluated for appropriateness to age, habitat, and season.

One step at a time–a step towards proper nutrition, a step towards proper sleep, and towards proper breathing–step by step leading to good health and satisfaction!

What People Want

Post 13-screen beans supporting

  • To be acknowledged
  • To have someone that gives love
  • To give love in return
  • To feel needed
  • To belong
  • To be recognized for abilities and efforts
  • To invest efforts in living

Security is also wanted, but not by all. Fame inspires some, but its call is quiet for most. Challenge beyond abilities appeals to a few, and it provides satisfaction and regrets. Camaraderie in experiences and memories appeals to most.

Long life is thought to be wanted by all, but many prefer significance to long existence. Significance can come from dedication to a cause or achievement that brings a feeling of completion.

Besides long life, money is thought to be wanted by all. Ownership, a result of money spent, invites those who want it, but not those who seek freedom from things. The feelings of power that come from money are appealing to many, but not to all. Money is important, yet it is less important than other desires.

Connection!
Connection to others and connection to the world around hold the real wants of all people. Being part of and being needed.

Connection offers true satisfaction in life!

Noticing the Wait Staff

waitress-clipart-waitress

Spoiled. That’s how we feel when we are waited upon. Someone to hear what we want. Someone taking orders.

Our needs receive precedence, If only for a moment. What we want to eat or drink or buy. The way we like. And they hear us.

We focus on ourselves and they help us feel important. Feel special.

The wait staff has weight of the business on their backs. They represent the business and they ignore themselves. Their identities are intertwined with the success of the business, and the business uses them.

Noticing the wait staff requires empathy. We, as the customers, can be interested in ourselves and notice the wait staff by giving empathy to ourselves and to them. Acknowledgement enough for their existence as our “hosts” and as individuals with lives apart from the business. Acknowledgement enough for ourselves and our responsibilities.

Businesses require subservience of its workers and dismissal of their struggles. But we can see the workers as equals, interact with kindness, order with a smile.

The customers lift daily duties from meaningless to purposeful for the wait staff—and the vibrations of balance in the world deepen.
