Scraps in the Body

scraps in the bodyShe constantly worries that more abnormalities will be detected. One test after another brings less serenity and more anxiety. The growth in her lung started the ball rolling, and it picks up speed with each test and each wait for results. The growth was not cancerous, but it was removed anyway. It had its purpose, but that purpose was never considered, and so, it was removed.

Our bodies work in ways we can’t understand. Sometimes the growths become infected and they harm the body (the cancerous growths). Sometimes they develop as responses to emotional turmoil. Even frustration can contribute to formation of a growth. The emotional growths can come and go, and the body usually dissolves them or builds “walls” around them to keep them from affecting body functioning.

The upkeep of the body is a complicated, encompassing process. Problems in one area affect the body in that spot and in others. A cut on the finger can instigate disruptions in other parts of the body. Irritation affecting the esophagus can trigger multiple reactions in organs and systems throughout the body. Small hurts can trigger major responses, and healing can become a full-body mission.

The body constantly moves the foreign and internally made waste through the body towards ejection. When the waste is ejected correctly, the body continues its marking and removal of unwanted matter. When the waste is blocked from removal, it is handled through secondary channels.

The placement of bits in various parts of the body is one of the mechanisms of storing unwanted matter temporarily. The lungs are a temporary storage facility for the bits. When the body is able to remove the unwanted matter, the storage areas are emptied of the bits and the waste is ejected correctly. The temporary storage disappears as if it was never there.

When proper movement of waste is continually blocked, temporary storage becomes larger and harder to empty. More and more storage areas are created and they become part of the ejection process. Bits are channeled to them before removal, and the storage areas slowly receive a formed shape.

The formed storage areas are not permanent, unless the body cannot process waste without them. The storage areas receive functionality just like other parts of the body. They provide service in the upkeep of the body. Although they are not identical in all bodies, they perform very similar services.

The purpose of the storage areas in the body is unclear, and the temporary storage areas are seen as problematic. Because they are suspicious, they are often removed. Their removal can trigger imbalance in the waste ejection system and can cause numerous reactions in other bodily processes.

The situation described at the beginning of this blog post is an example of misunderstood waste disposal. The body is brilliant in its design and resilience, which can be difficult to understand and interpret.

This blog post provides a partial explanation for development of unexplained activity in the body. The information has been given from Spirit.

The Essential Bucket List

bucket-list

A bucket list is assisted fulfillment of worthwhile goals. It offers insight into your personality and soul. It also allows thoughts of death to be considered in a constructive way.

If you want to create a bucket list that will carry you to fulfillment, be sure to include these suggestions on your list:

  • Search for relationships that supply comfort.
  • Decipher the sounds, sights, tastes, and smells that bring you contentment.
  • Give yourself to a cause that connects you to the environment.
  • Try difficulty. (This item refers to any challenge that seems worth trying.)
  • Create a friendship that is satisfying.
  • Receive yourself with compassion. (This item helps you accept and like yourself.)
  • Open to differences. (This item allows you to see the differences in people and societies in a fulfilling way.)

Going through life with a bucket list that reflects these items can bring you joy, adventures, and satisfaction!

Menopause: Nature in Cycles

menopause

I’m currently working on a book titled “Invented Afflictions and Movement Conditions”.  One of the invented afflictions is menopause. Here’s the information I’ve received from Spirit about menopause.

Opportunities to medicate abound. One of these opportunities is menopause: nature’s answer to gradual decline in females. Just as puberty changes a young girl’s body and prepares her for menstruation and childbirth, so too a mature woman’s body prepares her for cessation of menstruation and decline.

The change for young girls is no more difficult for the body than the change for mature women. Puberty is accepted with little medical interference, but menopause is not. There are interventions to “ease” the declining stage of life that treat this stage as problematic and requiring of denial.

Menopause brings changes—that is the nature of menopause. These changes have symptoms, but the symptoms are not illnesses that need to be healed. Menopausal symptoms are made worse by seeing them as avoidable nuisances. Pretending that menopause is not happening is contrary to nature.

The main contributor to ease during menopause is acceptance. Accepting that the body is moving to a new stage is balancing. Accepting that there might be fluctuations in body functioning makes the fluctuations less annoying. Accepting that messages, hints, and warnings disguised as menopausal symptoms are a way for the body to communicate, is how menopause should be viewed.

Seeing each symptom-message as information from the body that requires attention, and possibly action, is the catalyst for changing habits or lifestyle choices that upset balance. Identifying each symptom-hint sheds light on minor hormonal or metabolic changes. Responding to symptom-warnings when they occur prevents future illnesses and diseases. Each symptom-message, symptom-hint, and symptom-warning provides information that is important for the post-menopausal body.

Masking symptoms harms. The body is whispering or calling or crying out for attention. Masking the communications is a mistake.

As the body changes, noticing the changes and adjusting lifestyle is the first step to dealing with menopause. Evaluating the lifestyle changes and their effects on the body is the next step. Exploring holistic health practices for menopausal issues that bother is a positive step to living through menopause. Observing the changes and accepting them can bring contentment and joy.

Menopause is simply a phase of life. It can be an exciting time and a surprising time. Aiming for balance through the time before and after menopause is wise.

The pursuit of ease leads to …

remote-control

The pursuit of ease leads to…

  • Parents giving mobile phones and other handheld devices to their young children –> future physical ailments like back pain, muscle atrophy, and neck pain in the children.
  • Lifestyle diseases –> restricting movement, limiting activities, and refusal to try overwhelm the body and open it to unwellness.
  • Settling for undesired results and things.
  • Dissatisfaction –> “too easy” sabotages experiences of learning and pride.
  • Unrealized goals –> the ease outweighs the investment in effort to achieve goals.
  • Mounds of plastic waste that thwart efforts to provide livable urban environments –> the creation of plastics and the disposal of plastics create enormous amounts of pollution and problem-solving that boomerang back to the people.
  • Contributions to the horrible treatment of people –> easy-to-use products require people making the products easy to use, in work conditions that are often appalling.
  • Possible trouble.

Ease seems good, and it can be—when it is not the goal.

Here are three of my favorite ease producers. Suitcases on wheels have made traveling easier and more pleasant. GPS applications have made navigation less daunting. Food processors have led to the wonders of raw chocolate desserts! The list of ease-producing products is long.

Ease—when it becomes the goal—turns poisonous. The pursuit of ease has repercussions that are not always discernible at the time ease is pursued.

The pursuits of empathy, giving, and kindness are always worthwhile!

Sharing

renee-ein-gedi

So many things can be written about: the importance of sleep or water or nutritious foods. Perhaps nature’s effect on us or the importance of caring for animals. And yet, those topics feel insignificant next to today’s headlines blaring out another surprise terror attack.

Yesterday it happened in the country where I live, the day before in the country where I used to live.

The terror attacks have been happening every day in countries where I’ve never lived or visited, and I tend to let those attacks stay distant. Not let them faze my daily concerns.

Same with the reports of never-ending murders in some cities or horrific attacks on women in other countries or sex trafficking all around the world (my country included), and on and on. So many disturbing reports about the awful ways people treat one another.

“What can I share with people…” I ask Spiritual Presence, “…when I feel too sad to write about the importance of sleep or water or nutritious foods?”

Here’s the answer:

Life flows—highs and lows and in-betweens, floods and ebbs continuously. The lows take people down, where they are capable of incredible meanness. The highs bring them into incredibly kind states.  The meanness and the kindness are tangible expressions of life. Striving for kindness is best.

In my life, I can aim for the kindness and work to keep the low from overtaking. The other stuff is happening and I’ll stay aware, but keep striving for the kindness.

Now I feel a bit more ready to share what I had planned to share before the too near attack happened. The next post will share a dessert recipe I have come to rely upon to keep my nagging sweet tooth at bay. If it can help others combat their own sweet tooth, then I will have done a bit of kindness.

Why do we need spiritual connection?

Post 92-spiritual connection

  • We need spiritual connection because our lives are insignificant without it.
  • We need spiritual connection to help us weather stormy and difficult times.
  • We need spiritual connection when nature overcomes us with its beauty or its fearsomeness.
  • We need spiritual connection as a means to fathom life and death.
  • We need spiritual connection if we are lonely or hurt.
  • We need spiritual connection filling our lives with purpose, elevation, and reason for striving.

Spiritual connection can be found on one’s own or in a group. The main thing to know about spiritual connection is that it is available to all equally. No group has a claim on higher access to spiritual connection.

People who dedicate themselves to spiritual connection at the expense of connecting to the people around them are not living spiritual connection correctly. Spiritual connection is not an excuse for turning one’s back on the needs of other people.

Spiritual connection can be a way to understand the world around if we can see the spirituality in all living things.

Spiritual connection fills the world with beauty, drama, and interactions.

Spiritual connection is the basis for ethical and caring treatment of all living things, including people.

Overcoming Disappointment

disappointment-clipart-frowney-face-md

“Deserving” one thing and receiving something else brings on a bout of disappointment.

“Deserving” is an interesting word. We want many things, and the wanting can cause a sense of entitlement. When the feeling of deserving overshadows reality, the feeling of disappointment is close by.

Wanting something can also lead to disappointment if the fulfillment of the wants depends on someone else’s actions. Wanting carries expectations, and expectations have within them the seeds of disappointment.

Wanting someone else to do something for us or wanting someone else to say wonderful things to us or wanting someone else to give us just the right thing or wanting someone else to recognize our needs or wanting someone else to … (and so the list goes).

The expectation of certain actions or words or gifts or responses or outcomes brings disappointment whenever the expectation causes sadness. Sadness is the root of disappointment.

We learn to be disappointed; it is not a natural feeling. We learn it from promises unkept, from advertisements that create impossible results, from friendships betrayed, and from hopes thwarted. When we learn disappointment at an early age, it can sabotage future relationships and endeavors. Events outside ourselves influence our living, and when these events bring sadness, they deafen our resistance to feelings of self-pity. The sadness can become disappointment by self-pity becoming self-righteousness.  Believing that we deserved something or needed it very much builds the disappointment so that it overshadows outcomes that are fine. The fine aspects of life get forgotten and the disappointments come more easily.

What can we do to overcome disappointments?

Our perceptions influence our feelings of satisfaction or disappointment. Our experiences influence them as well. Accepting that perceptions and experiences have enabled disappointment to affect our viewpoints is the first step.

Here are other steps that can lessen the grasp of disappointment:

  • Smile at regular intervals. For example, smile when you arise and when you get out of bed, when you get dressed and when you put on your shoes, when you start eating your first meal of the day and when you have finished it, and while doing obligatory beginning-of-the-day routines, movements, or chores.
  • Practice surprise! Young children live surprise day in, day out. They gawk at animals, flowers, and brightly colored boxes. They experience wonder when they experience daily living. Surprise is their constant companion. As children age, societal pressures to conform destroy the surprise feelings. To bring back feelings of surprise, purposely look at things around your home that you really like and notice how you feel when you look at them. To encourage feelings of surprise, marvel at the mundane things in your life (like curtains, kitchen utensils, and dirt in the garden).
  • Don’t let feelings of disappointment fester. When you notice these feelings, push your stomach in and out several times and then consider why you are feeling this way. If your disappointment is at yourself, acknowledge your part in bringing about your current situation. If your disappointment is at someone else, let yourself be distracted by other things. If your disappointment is at an event that wasn’t to your expectation, force yourself to move on.
  • Find a volunteer cause that you can help and give time to the cause. Donating money is not giving time. Actually spend time helping the cause.

We can unlearn being disappointed. It’s worth the time and effort to banish disappointment from our lives!

Posture! So important!

spine

I’ve just finished receiving the chapter about posture for my latest book “Invented Afflictions and Movement Conditions”. I can’t wait to publicize this information so I’m posting it now.

I hadn’t realized just how important posture is, and you can believe me when I say I’ve been sitting up much straighter since I started this chapter!

Here’s to better posture for us all!

Note: The information presented is from Spiritual Presence.

Posture in Staggered Solidity

Posture gives possibility of movement sublime. Freedom of movement extends from posture excellence. Exceling at posture is a worthwhile goal. The better the posture, how much better the living!

Extending the body upwards lengthens the spine and enhances the flows in the body. Bending the body forwards, sideways, or backwards for too long stresses the spine and disturbs flows. When flows are constricted, the body works harder to maintain balance. This unnecessary exertion can lead to permanently compromised health when the spine is held in the bent posture constantly.

Young children who maintain bent posture cause their bodies to work harder during times of healing and exertion. Teenagers who maintain bent posture cause their bodies to work harder during times of healing and exertion and create pressure on their vertebrae and musculature.

Adults in their 20s and 30s who maintain bent posture from their teenage years usually experience back pain, radiating pain from the back, and shortening of muscles. If the bent posture starts in their 20s and 30s, these adults may still have the direct and radiating pain, but the shortening of muscles will probably not yet take place.

When the bent posture begins in middle age, direct and radiating pain will accompany the bent posture and organ functionality may be affected. If the bent posture continued into middle age from the earlier years, the muscles will shorten, direct and radiating pain will occur, the intervertebral discs will age more quickly, the flows will slow, and the liver may be affected, as well as digestion.

If people begin to bend after reaching late middle age (60s) or into their 70s, the damage is less severe. A life of standing tall will have contributed to better health, so that the bending later on is less harmful. If the bent posture continued from earlier years, other organs and bodily processes will be negatively affected as well.

The vertebrae are masterful supporters of the body. They align in accordance with the parts of the body they protect. Their placement enables a strong steadfastness that is flexible in its limitations. The vertebrae enable bending, curving, and resilience.

Posture naturally expresses the positions of the vertebrae when the posture is extended upwards. The vertebrae are one on the other, stacked to support and provide space for all the internal body parts. When the vertebrae are forced into stacked crookedness, the space for the internal body parts is shifted. This shifting can be inconsequential or it can compromise functioning. If the stacked crookedness becomes chronic, the shifting of internal body parts can induce improper blood flow and elimination issues (sweat, urine, and others depending on the location of the shifting).

Movement is unnatural when the posture is slouched or crooked. Slouching and crooked walking have become fashionable, and the fashionability of walking improperly hurts whole populations. Slouching models encourage young men and women to slouch. Fashion that encourages wearing shoes with high heels creates generations with unnatural posture and movement. The slouching that comes from hours spent on mobile devices is equivalent to confinement in a cell that is too small; they both cause internal shifting.

Improper posture from car seats, airplane seats, and embarrassment (the posture that is assumed when a person is embarrassed) affect the posture in connection with other posture damagers. The worse the posture, the more the car seats, airplane seats, and embarrassment impact pain and internal damage.

Lack of exercise contributes to posture deterioration. Insufficient movement breaks when sitting for long periods of time contribute to posture deterioration. Negative viewpoint (of the world, of oneself, of society) and negative societal position also contribute to posture deterioration.   Other contributors to posture deterioration are too little manganese in the diet, sleep that is regularly diurnal rather than nocturnal, and irregular work schedules.

Proper posture contributes to lack of back and neck pain, relaxed muscles, better digestion, deeper breathing, correct blood flow, reproductive efficiency, and protected brain functioning. The vertebrae may look staggered, their importance may seem questionable, and their evolution may be misunderstood, but the vertebrae should be looked at as one solid piece of engineering with all the parts placed in the exact positions with the exact connections to create amazing possibilities—possibilities of movement, well-being, and balance!

The Season of Consumption

HeartsGifts must be bought. Meals must be sumptuous. Family gatherings must be filled with surprises and wish fulfillment. Holiday clothing must be special. ‘Tis the season of consumption.

Advertisers push the idea of holiday consumption. Schools add to the pressure. Supermarkets provide over-the-top holiday incentives to festoon your home and deplete your wallet. Department stores and online stores do too. ‘Tis the season of consumption.

How about viewing this season as the season of connection? Coming together to spend time, exchange stories, entertain through laughter and music, and build relationships. Eating together without exhaustion from too much food preparation or nausea from too much food ingestion.

This season can be the season for opening your eyes and seeing the beauty of the connections. Let everyone know that this year is about you and them, and not about the things that don’t really matter. Buy gifts that are socially responsible and plan gatherings that will be filled with laughter and foods that nourish. Quality over quantity can be the guide. Connection rather than consumption can be the focus.

‘Tis the season of connection!

Leaves--Journey

In The Gift for Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort, the journey of life is explored.

“The path one chooses is actually many paths; each path leading into a wider and longer path. The ability to try is the key to creating a valuable life. Valuable here means creatively challenged, joyful, balanced in terms of self vs. community, and accepting of the vagrancies of nature and life events. So many tributaries feed into the river that forms and sculpts our lives. Each chance meeting; each struggle to learn something new, to hone existing skills, to push beyond; each encounter with nature; each encounter with nature’s creatures; each exchange—verbal, physical, or with divine understanding; each decision, non-decision, decision result. All these parts combine, repel, stack, and group to shape, mold, and create the people that we are.”

“…each encounter with nature, each encounter with nature’s creatures…”  Many of us tend to trivialize the importance of our encounters with the environment and with other living creatures.  “The connection to flora and fauna significantly 1) broadens and heightens understanding of cycles and fluctuations; 2) develops appreciative and inquisitive capabilities; and 3) causes people to examine and work with vegetation that aid human life and animals that enhance human existence.” from Oneself-Living.

The photo above is my attempt at nature art. As the wind blew my collected leaves around, I thought about the need to relax expectations (I had collected 1000 leaves). The leaves were interesting to work with: varying colors, sizes, and shapes; easy to work with until the wind whipped them up; and versatile in their ability to form lines, corners, and curves.

The more we encounter nature, the more we understand ourselves.

Flu Destruction: Yes, the Flu is Dangerous!

no-to-flu

The flu annoys and disturbs functioning. It sometimes leads to serious illness when the afflicted person has a compromised immune system or ignores the body’s messages to fight the flu virus.

The flu charges the body with force that is hard to stop. Propelled towards openings, flu viruses enter the body with coded instructions to overcome the body’s defenses.

To combat invasion by flu viruses, the body must respond with equal force. The viruses withstand basic defenses. They are overcome only when the body’s defenses are focused and protective.

If the body is busy handling emotional upheaval, is dimmed from too little rest, is stressed from existing illness, or is experiencing anticipation or episodes of fear, flu viruses can prevail. The diminished state of the body cannot withstand the force of the flu viruses.

When a virus enters the body, the defenses give way or rally depending on the state of health and the person’s willingness to care for his or her body. As the body notifies about the flu invasion, care through rest, wise nutrition, and desire to heal are the steps that rally the body’s defenses. Aids such as Vitamin C can help, but only if the other self-care steps are taken as well. Ignoring the body’s miserable state can lead to extended flu with long-lingering secondary effects.

If the body is depleted when the flu virus charges, the intensity of the flu can seem worse than it is. Healing takes longer, but occurs when self-care is good. If the body is depleted and self-care is too little, the body can become very ill. Other germs can invade as well, and the body might require intensive care to heal.

The flu is a serious virus that should be protected against by good nutrition, proper rest, and attention to stresses. If the flu succeeds in beating the body’s defenses, self-care is very important. Our bodies are built to withstand the onslaught of flu viruses, but we must assist them in their constant vigil against illness. Staying well is the best defense!

Flu Protection: What to Eat

no-to-flu

Flu season is approaching. Here are food tips to protect against the flu and to heal from the flu.

Prevention

To keep flu viruses from infecting:

  • Eat foods that increase resistance: pumpkin, arugula, cabbage, parsley, lemon, pomegranate, mulberries, buckwheat, blackstrap molasses, and kombu seaweed.  Other vegetables that are helpful in strengthening the body besides these ten foods are: cruciferous vegetables (which include the cabbage and arugula listed above) and orange-colored vegetables (which include the pumpkin listed above).
  • Eat a reasonable amount of food each day. Too much food taxes the body’s defenses. Too little food lowers the body’s resistance.
  • Supplement your diet with garlic, sprouted seeds from the cabbage family (broccoli, watercress, and turnip sprouts), and small amounts of certain oils (olive oil that was cold-pressed extra virgin, evening primrose oil, and borage seed oil).

During the flu

To counter the flu virus after it has overcome the body’s defenses:

  • Warming foods are helpful. If chewing is an effort, eat pureed vegetable and chicken soup, if you eat meat. Eat pureed vegetable and legume soup, if you don’t eat meat.
  • Eat when your appetite appears. Don’t put off eating, because the flu can influence your desire to take in foods that combat the virus.
  • Eat foods listed in the section above.

After the flu

To strengthen the body after the flu has passed:

  • Slowly increase the amount of food you eat.
  • Avoid highly processed and sweetened foods.
  • Limit the amount of dairy products until the residual effects of the flu have passed.

Flu Season Do’s and Don’ts

no-to-flu

Flu can strike at any time, but the winter is especially rife with flu viruses. The viruses hitchhike from carrier to carrier, surprising the body’s defenses with distinct vitality.

In order to combat flu vitality, here are do’s and don’ts that can protect you from contracting the flu.

Do’s

  • Stay away from people carrying a flu virus. The easiest way to spot a carrier is to notice their vitality. People carrying a flu virus that is transferable have given their vitality to the virus. (By the time carriers have the flu symptoms, they may have already passed the virus on to others, so looking for lack of vitality is an early clue to virus protection.)
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day. The body can flush out flu viruses when fluids are flowing optimally. Water is the best hydrator, followed by barley tea and parsley juice/tea.
  • Breathe protectively Shallow breathing cannot supply oxygen like deep breathing. The more rhythmic and deep the breathing throughout the day, the more the body can withstand flu vitality.
  • Wear clothing that protects. Don’t wear clothes for warm weather in the winter. Don’t overdress in overheated spaces. Don’t over-shiver (shivering is a normal reaction to cold, but over-shivering means the shivering has gone on for too long or the intensity of the cold is too much for your body).
  • Stay active. Keep exercising and moving throughout the winter months.
  • Sleep the proper amount for your body. The body requires enough sleep to fortify against invading germs. A weary body struggles against powerful flu viruses.

Don’ts

  • Don’t skip any of the tips in the Do’s list!

Extra Tips

  • Nutritious foods offer extra protection. Consume foods that build your resistance to germs. (See “Flu Protection: What to Eat”.)
  • An optimistic attitude offers extra protection.
  • The emotion, contentment, offers extra protection.

Eating to be Fine

tomato-sorrel-salad

Food is SO confusing. We want it to taste good. We want it to be appealing. And, oh yea, we want it to nourish us.

Actually, many of us forget about the nourishing part of food and focus on the tastiness. Delicious is the main word, not nutritious.

Tasty satisfies for the moments the food is in the mouth, but once it has been swallowed, tasty becomes irrelevant. Nutritional value becomes key.

If the food was tasty and nutritious, the taste buds, digestive system, and body are satisfied. If the food was tasty but devoid of nutritional value, the taste buds were satisfied, but the body feels betrayed.

Our bodies can’t understand why we would insert food that harms us. The body then has to process the harmful foods as best it can. Continuous consumption of harmful foods leads to mutiny by the body—diabetes, diverticulitis, stomachaches, constipation, inflammation, and blockages, among other ailments.

Eating to be fine means putting the body’s health first: eating an apple rather than an apple fritter; saying no to cola with the meal; ordering whole grain items from the menu to encourage restaurants to provide whole grain options; sharing dessert rather than consuming the whole thing; ignoring marketing attempts to get you to buy highly processed foods.

Eating to be fine adds years to life and wellness to years. Feeling good beats a momentary taste pleasure hands down!

Connection, 3 of 3

caring

People are suffering from flooding in one country. People are suffering from restrictive governmental policies in another country. Drought and food shortages create suffering in a different country. Armed conflict devastates people in other countries.

People are suffering throughout the world in different ways and in different circumstances. The suffering is connected in that the world reverberates with cries of the desperate and weak. Their cries might not be heard, but the tears swim in an ocean of anguish that flows into the lives of those who are not suffering.

The suffering alternates: sometimes these people and sometimes those people. The people who suffer less have joyful respite from difficulties, but their joy can be lessened by self-inflicted anguish.

When one person suffers, those around can uplift when possible. When whole groups of people suffer, the uplifting activities are harder to do because they require investment of resources and interest.

Connected anguish may be invisible, but it winds its way through the lives of all. Taking time to see the anguish is humanity bettered. Helping those nearby and those afar gives back to empathetic souls, because the ocean of anguish quiets. Connecting through empathy and awareness eases the times that are hard.

Spiritual connection

Finger presses is how I receive connection to spiritual wisdom (see “How I get the information” on the About page). Sensations of pressure in the gut—that are not physically or emotionally caused—are messages from spirit to others. Tugging at the heart is another notice from spirit.

Each person has connection to spirit. It is built in to the soul. The access is always open, but the messages can be camouflaged. Finding the messages within the hum requires familiarity with inner rumblings and productions. So much noise inside the body can overwhelm the messages from spirit. External pressure to reject the connection further distances from the messages.

Whether or not people connect to spiritual care—it exists! The caring is apparent through the possibility of connection. The caring constantly calls to us when we are open to receiving spiritual input.

Following intuition is a first step to receiving spiritual input. Moving beyond intuition to notice the other sensations of input is the next step.

“Connection, 2 of 3” is direct input to remind us to listen intently.

Connection, 1 of 3

Muslim and Jewish women

Last week, there was a gathering of women—Jewish women, Muslim women, and Christian women. This gathering took place in the north of Israel in an Arab village. The gathering was an opportunity to hear an Arab member of the Israeli Knesset (parliament) speak about her work for women’s rights.

I attended this gathering, together with friends from my community. There were women from cities and villages, some in traditional dress and some in tight jeans. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and I felt welcomed.

The first speaker, a woman from the village, told us about her meaningful life advocating for women. She described her struggles in a patriarchal community—within her family and within the society—to reject a traditional role, and instead, build a place in society that gives her challenge and satisfaction. Her determination felt contagious and her words were inspirational.

Sharing a sense of sisterhood, we received her words. Some in the room face the same struggles, giving up or pushing forward. Some, like me, have freedom to choose our paths, held back only by self-imposed barriers. Connection was built that night through the shared space and receiving of emotions and inspiration.

Each opportunity to connect with unfamiliar is an opportunity to experience sameness and surprise. I received warmth from women who seem different from me and I returned it in kind. We experienced connection for a short time, and that connection can lead to familiarity, understanding, and acceptance.

Opening to others can open ourselves: opening through shared experiences and determination to connect.

“Connection, 1 of 3” is the first look at connection possibilities.

Dreaming Explored

Dream-ava

Dream print by Ava Carmel

Dreams enchant or frighten. They can bring answers to problems or worry to troubles. Dreams perplex us in their depth and in their fancifulness. Dreams connect seemingly unconnected aspects of our lives and deconstruct current events and concerns. Dreams enrich and they inspire.

Each sleep experience is an opportunity for enjoyment of dreams or disturbance by them.

Here are interesting dream facts that Spiritual Presence is sharing:

  • Dreams that are complex and multi-chaptered (that is, dreams that have a similar theme and characters which have various escapades and secondary characters, creating incongruous happenings) are dreams that reoccur throughout the sleep period. Each dream is a view of an event or thought from a different mind position. With sameness in the content, the mind releases varying thought currents that move the content, but don’t completely change it. This current movement enables a main dream theme to remain as the current carries it in different ways each time the dream theme reoccurs. A complex and multi-chaptered dream will seem to be a long continuous dream, when in actuality, it is a dream that repeats with changes each time it occurs. The remembered dream will feel like one dream.
  • Things that affect dreams are: sweet foods eaten within half an hour of sleep, emotions that cause fear, and creative thinking done within an hour of sleep. A person who has frightening dreams should examine nighttime rituals that cause fearful thoughts and emotions.
  • Universal dreams are dreams that are not individual specific; they are dreams that are meant for others to hear. Most people dream dreams that have messages or input just for themselves. Certain individuals have the gift of universal dreams. Here is a blog post about universal dreams: What a dream can tell.
  • Movement during sleep can signify dreams that impact emotions. Gentle movements often accompany dreams that affect disappointments or fond memories. Energetic movements often accompany dreams that release exuberant feelings of joy, creativity, or longing.
  • Age affects dreaming. Younger people dream more when they are thirsty. Older people dream more when they are hungry.
  • Emotional state at the start of the day can influence dreams that night.
  • Rhythmic breathing before sleep can upgrade dreams. Fearsome dreams will be less fearsome. The dreaming cycles will last increasing longer through the night. The rhythmic breathing can lessen the effects of sweet foods on dreams. It can also decrease the intensity of upsetting dreams.

Dreams are release centers for our minds. They systematically process and review our thoughts, feelings and experiences. Their impact on our minds is more significant than realized.

Dreams have guided operations that are controlled by the brain. Their structure is logical and their outcome is not. Dreams may seem illogical or mysterious, when in actuality, they are patterned and sensible.

Dreams connect us to inner aspects of our brain that are intangible and awesome. Dreams steady our thinking and our interpretations. They secrete ideas, hidden feelings, forgotten memories, and connections. Dreams maintain balance and humility.

Letting the Body Heal

In “Samba ’til the End— Experiencing Well-Being in the Later Years”, one of the maintenance tips for aging well is to listen to your body and find healing through natural means.

Our bodies are designed to monitor and fix themselves, but the monitoring and fixing take time. When we choose activities, foods, or lifestyles that overwhelm natural healing, the monitoring and fixing slow or stop. Listening to our bodies when they are overwhelmed is crucial to healing. Without the natural monitoring and fixing, diseases and illnesses can overtake and overwhelm our bodies.

Negative Influences

Here are activities, foods, and lifestyles that slow or stop the body’s ability to monitor and fix itself.

Undereating; a sedentary lifestyle; overusing medications, alcohol, or tobacco; worrying; accepting other people’s evaluations of your health when you feel they are incorrect; hydrogenated-manipulated food stuff; eating and drinking artificially sweetened or sugared drinks and food; disdain and contempt for others; toxic and addictive substances; constricting posture; inactivation or removal of organs and other body parts; stress; exposure to toxic substances; and rejection of bodily signals to sleep, eliminate, extend (the muscles), or eat.

Positive Influences

Here are activities, foods, and lifestyles that enhance the body’s ability to monitor and fix itself.

Deep breathing; a giving lifestyle; smiling; preventative health care; attention to posture; a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains, and enjoyment (mealtimes that are pleasant and not rushed); spending time with nature:  in parks, at a beach, on a hike, and connecting with the seasons; active movement: walking, dancing, swimming, etc.; paying attention to the body’s signals of unwellness and helping it heal through rest and protection; eating and drinking in moderation; love; and acknowledgement of bodily signals to sleep, eliminate, extend (the muscles), or eat.

Healing and Disease

Healing won’t take place when attitude and disease overtake the healing mechanisms. A positive attitude can counter disease, but the positive attitude must be sincere to have impact.

Healing and Aging

Aging affects the body’s speed of healing. In general, healing slows. When healing has slowed, the impact of positive and negative influences is more pronounced. Negative influences can speed death and render the aging unbearable. Positive influences can increase life expectancy and render the aging enjoyable. Healing remains active when the body is treated well.

Peanut Allergy—the Causes

What changed about peanuts that has caused the epidemic of peanut allergy? What about modern living has changed to lead to peanut sensitivity in such a large scale?

When I was growing up, peanut butter was eaten without limits. Nowadays, it’s not allowed at many schools and children’s activities. What happened?

I’ve asked Spirit, and the answer I get is that it’s complicated and I won’t be able to figure it out because I don’t have a science background. What I do get is a list of four culprits that work together to create the peanut crisis. If any of my readers have connections with scientists who could do the research, please pass this post on.

The answer is about modern living. Over time, changes have taken place to lead to the peanut crisis. Here are the culprits:

  • Alphaproteobacteria
  • Dextrose and phosphoric acid mixed (an ingredient in medicines for nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, and gastroenteritis)
  • Bismuth subsalicylate (an ingredient in medicines for diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues)
  • Anxiety in pregnant women that is triggered by continuous worry about the fetus. Each time a woman is tested for the fetus (ultrasounds, blood tests, amniocentesis, etc.), anxiety can be present. The more tests, the more anxiety. Side effects of anxiety can alter the fetus’s ability to fend off bacteria. The tests provide useful information, but cause a rise in episodes of anxiety. In the past, women were given less tests which created less anxiety.

How these separate culprits interact to create the peanut crisis is complex. They cause the crisis to be widespread and difficult to challenge.

The peanut crisis is reversible, but it requires changes in behavior and health practices. Without making the changes, the peanut crisis can increase and mutate.
