The soul-color attribute Shade and its Moral Boundaries setting

Shade-moral boundaries setting

The previous blog post explains the color attributes of the soul, one of which is Shade. Shade has several actions that determine the comfort a person feels in his or her surroundings. One of these actions is the sense of morality, the ability to naturally know right and wrong. Each person has a morality setting that guides. Here is an excerpt from Awaiting Light—Understanding the Development of the Soul:

“The society in which one lives pushes against the natural moral-balance boundaries setting, especially when the society imposes a moral scale different from the person’s own.  The same for different settings in a family. The person with the most influence in a family usually sets the moral boundaries, and the other family members adjust or rebel.

When a society is repressive, the moral-balance boundaries settings for all who live in the society are affected. Even for those who support the repressive ways. People are forced to ignore their natural sense of moral conduct when the society is morally selfish, and they must themselves repress their knowingness about proper and moral behavior.

When a society is tolerant of nuances, moral-balance boundaries settings are also affected; and so, the boundaries are much more available for making personal decisions and for formulating opinions and actions. Societal morés do come into play, but they can be weighed with relatively equal weight to one’s own sense of right and wrong.

Sometimes people with repressive tendencies gain influence in a tolerant society. When a repressive energy takes hold, it affects the populace in three main ways: (1) for those who support the repression, it causes them to ignore their own sense of right and wrong; (2) for those who are unwilling or unable to oppose, it causes them to modify their sense of right and wrong; and (3) for those whose personal sense of right and wrong is strong, it causes them to oppose the repression.

A society that is tolerant is a society that has connection. Connection to its inhabitants. Connection to people-boundaries of moral balance.  Connection to soul.

The moral-balance boundaries setting has effects on the body: on digestion, on breathing, on circulation, and on thinking. When people are able to live by their morality boundaries, they are able to live in balance with themselves. They can evaluate and act based on personal judgment.”

“…the color that defines each person’s soul”

Soul color 2

An excerpt from Awaiting Light—Understanding the Development of the Soul:

The soul determines personality, the types of things that draw our interest and attention, our pace in absorbing information and performing activities, our pull towards certain times of the day and seasons, our comfort with temperature and weather variations/frequencies, our moods and mood overall, our intuition, and our drive to live. The soul affects health and well-being, and generally works to keep the body in balance.

The soul leads the body towards survival, but the body is responsible for survival activities. The soul informs the body, but the body can ignore the subtle signals. The soul wants acceptance, compassion, and understanding, but the body can choose fault finding, laziness, and defeat. The soul hints at spiritual connection, but the body listens or not.

Body and soul, soul and body—intertwined and independent. One can want one thing and the other can want something else, but whatever choices are made affects the other.

Bound and dependent, distinct and independent—duality in influencing the actions of each individual. The body and soul are joined at birth when the first inhalation occurs. The body and soul relinquish connection when bodily functioning has completely stopped and the pull of the soul towards next occurs.

The soul is complex in its intangible-being. The soul has color that determines personality characteristics, likes, dislikes, temperament, etc.  The soul-color comes from a collection of intangible attributes that can be likened to shade, hue, contrast, and coloration. Each soul-color attribute contributes to the color that defines each person’s soul.”

Perfection and certainty

No Certainty-Perfection

People want certainty in their lives, but certainty is unattainable because life is too fluid. People also want perfection, but that too is unattainable because life is too elastic. Certainty and perfection are elements of the universe, and even so, certainty is not always certain.

Certainty

“We all want certainty. And sometimes we get it. When we prepare for things, we often get the desired outcome. When we measure and work in an exacting manner, our cakes taste right, they look beautiful, they make the eaters happy. When we wash our hands, they are clean. When we allow enough time, we (usually) arrive at our destination on time. When we set our alarm clock, we wake up on time—usually. When we build buildings with strong foundations, they keep us secure—except in times of war or destructive natural disasters.” …from “The Gift of Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort”

Perfection

“Wanting perfection, and settling for nothing but, is mistaken behavior. Aiming for doing one’s best, working hard, giving it your all—these goals are worthwhile and worth pursuing. Great performance is admirable as long as the performer is pleased as well and not saying “Oh I should have done better.” Of course one can strive to improve, but disparaging a good job! well done! is fruitless waste of energy.” …from “Oneself—Living”

Perfection and certainty

Perfection and certainty reduce achievement. These words cause expectations and disappointment and injured relationships.

These words are troublemakers. Let them go!

Letting time dribble away

Post 97-wild flowers

Here is my typical workday these days: sit down at the computer and read emails, look at my blog statistics, check my Facebook page, read the news main topics, open the file for the book I’m working on and go to where I left off, add a sentence or two, check the news again (things are unstable so the news changes quickly), see if anyone has commented on Facebook, get up to get a drink, vow to only work on my book, peek to see if there are any new emails and news, go to my book and try to focus, get frustrated so do some administrative work for my husband, take another quick look at blog statistics, and so on. Not much getting written, but lots of valuable time dribbling away.

I know that I am meant to bring much wisdom to the world and yet I procrastinate. Sometimes I struggle with the questions I need to ask in order to receive the wisdom. Sometimes I struggle with the individual words. Sometimes I struggle with the graphics. And sometimes I struggle with the immensity of my purpose.

I’m about to receive wisdom to guide me during this time of distraction, and I’m sharing it on my blog in hopes that it will help others who are time wasters like me. Here goes:

Renee—you have been shown what you represent. You bring about understanding of connection to beyond when you focus your time and effort. To focus: do the huff’ n’ puff exercise each morning for at least 5 minutes, do one of the exercises for connecting to spiritual support once a week, and only open your document on the computer. Strive!

I give messages to people I work with, and they choose to make the changes that can bring them balance and understanding—or not. They have free choice to change. The messages I receive require acceptance by me. The gift comes with expectations.

Time is deceptive. Life is multi-textured. The time spent creating a life that is reaching and grounded is time that is used wisely. Strive!

Nature’s impact on us

Gift of nature

Want a fantastic treat? Try spending more time in nature.

Many of us tend to trivialize the importance of our encounters with the environment and with other living creatures. Besides the enjoyment that can come from being in nature:

“The connection to flora and fauna significantly 1) broadens and heightens understanding of cycles and fluctuations; 2) develops appreciative and inquisitive capabilities; and 3) causes people to examine and work with vegetation that aid human life and animals that enhance human existence.” – from “Oneself-Living”

When the weather is hot, many people look for cool retreats. Instead of heading to the mall with its over-air-conditioned assault on the body, find a shaded walk with broad trees, chirping birds, and bountiful vegetation.  The air conditioning overtaxes the body (even if you think it feels good), but the outside temperature strengthens the body (even if you feel sweaty).

Being outside in nature is relaxing, invigorating, and mesmerizing. There are “rules” for feeling relaxed, invigorated, and mesmerized when you are walking in nature:

  1. Have sufficient water so that you stay hydrated.
  2. Wear a hat and clothing that protect from too strong sun. Sun screen is important.
  3. Keep your mobile phone in a bag and not in your hand or pocket. The less you use it or think about it, the more you can enjoy your outdoor experience.
  4. Pay attention to the things that draw your eye. You will gain understanding about yourself and your soul when you recognize natural draws of your attention.

There are magical moments that only occur in the out-of-doors near the trees and vegetation,  really!!

Serving distraction, athletic shoe style

Distracting colors

See those colors and patterns above? They are the colors and patterns on popular sport shoes for boys. Colorful! Bold! Eye catching!

Yes, eye-catching. A boy who is struggling to stay attentive in class will be easily distracted by his colorful, bold, and eye-catching footwear. For one moment, he’ll be listening to his teacher and then his eyes will lower, he’ll see his shoes, and then his mind is off—not necessarily off thinking about a game he’ll be playing, just off away from where his mind needs to be.

If you have a son (or grandson) who is easily distracted, consider this information before you buy the latest fad in footwear.  There are so many distractions anyway. No need to serve another form of distraction.

Things to beautify

(taken from my article “The Pursuit of Beauty: Things to Beautify” on HealingAnswers.com)

Hair

(a picture of hair sent to Locks for Love)

“Beauty for people is an overpowering stimulant. Whether the beauty comes from natural sources or from people’s hands, no matter, the effects on one’s senses is intoxicating. The drive to build useable objects such as highways, buildings, and smaller, practical objects is partnered with the desire to build them aesthetically. When objects are built for usability only, they are valued less than when built for admiration. Sometimes the pursuit of beauty is placed on the wrong objects. For example, trying to change the natural aging of the body in order to pursue an unnatural expectation is foolish. One’s efforts should be placed on beautifying one’s surroundings.”

–          from the chapter “Personal Endeavors” in “The Gift of Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort”.

This blog post lists the effort-worthy things that should occupy people’s drive for beauty.

Community

People live in more than a home; they live in a community. Some people think they have responsibility only for the actual place in which they live. That is not true. They have responsibility for the appearance of the area in which they live.

This fact even applies to temporary dwellers.  Temporary dwellers are in a state of flux geographically, but their need for beauty does not change. As a matter of fact, they might need it more because of the transient nature of their current situation.

People should do whatever they can to beautify their community, be it through planting trees, flowers and plants, contributing to community efforts to maintain the community, cleaning as needed (picking up trash, cleaning up after one’s pet, and moving obstructions), and taking interest in the happenings of the community that affect its appearance.

Garden

Connecting with nature is vitally necessary for people’s health. Taking the time to beautify a garden or a windowsill or a path at one’s home is important. Important for a person’s sense of aesthetics, important for a person’s connection to nature.

Post 97-flower arrangements3

Home

Taking the time to beautify one’s home is time elevated. People require beauty around them, and their home is the main surrounding environment. Beautifying one’s home includes spending time understanding the furnishings and decorative items that make the person happy, not just buying what is in fashion. Even temporary dwellers should make efforts to beautify their temporary dwelling.

One’s countenance

Countenance means the expression on one’s face, but it also means the presence a person emits as they go through life. A smile on the face that is sincere is beautiful. Wearing clothes that make the wearer feel a smile inside their body is beautiful.

Feeling a sense of importance is beautiful—not that the person is an ambassador or a well-paid executive—no! The sense of importance comes from knowing that one’s being is important—the importance that is naturally infused in people when they are born and stays if they are not damaged too much by circumstances or people. Knowing that the life inside is worthy of viewing as beautiful.

Maintaining a beautiful countenance requires caring properly for the body, participating in activities that bring uplifting feelings, and awareness of one’s abilities and accomplishments.

Atmosphere in one’s home, one’s place of work, and one’s selected activities

Having beautiful objects in one’s home is not enough. If there is anger or hurt in the air, the beautiful objects are tarnished. People’s feelings are more important than the inanimate objects.

Efforts should be made to beautify a workplace. The most important way to beautify a workplace is by bringing in plants and planted flowers. Inanimate plants and flowers don’t count. People should take the time to care for plants in their workplace because the plants give more than people realize. The atmosphere at the workplace should also be kept beautiful: building confidence rather than being hurtful, lending a hand rather than brushing off, speaking kindly rather than attacking, and so on.

The atmosphere at activities can also be beautified when people work together, encourage each other, and smile at one another.

Conclusion

Beauty is found everywhere and in tangible and intangible things. To live beauty is to live with openness, kindness, and curiosity. To be beautiful is to live in acceptance and awe of oneself and one’s life.

Just show NO to animal testing

Beagle-save beagles

(This picture is from the Beagle Freedom Project website.)

I just watched a moving video about beagles that have been released from their cages after having lived their entire lives in cages because they were used in animal experiments for people products.

The video prompted me to ask Spiritual Presence about animal testing, and the answer I received is straightforward. Here is the answer:

If people would use natural products, there would not be a need for testing on animals.          I’ll repeat that sentence, If people (us) would use natural products, there would not be a need for testing on animals.          I’ll repeat the sentence again: If people (each and every one of us) would use natural products (even if they cost more or require more work on our part), there would not be a need for testing on animals.

Steps to rely less on animal-tested products
  • Maintain your health so you don’t get diseases that require medications that were developed using animal testing. This step is simpler than you think. Look at the post on aging well: https://energy-guidance-complete.com/2014/05/20/health-throughout-aging-post-7-2/
  • If you are ill, try using natural healing products first and only if they don’t help after a reasonable amount of time, use the possibly animal-tested products.
  • Use natural cleaning products. Vinegar is a wonderful cleaning agent. Look it up on the Internet.

Making these changes is small in comparison to what it does for the animals that are used for our “betterment”. As stated in The Gift of Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort:

“Intuitively, we must live as if we understand that our lives are gifts to the world, that we are here to link ourselves with the rhythms of the world, that we are caregivers of others and of the creatures and natural elements of the world, that our presence brings betterment to the world, and that each step we take resonates with the knowledge of our responsibilities.”

This area is one in which individual buying habits can make a difference. This area is one in which caring for oneself affects other aspects of the world in myriad ways.

Treatment for Hunger

Post 13-screen beans supporting

When you feel hungry—hungry for affection, hungry for purpose, hungry for notice—the treatment is involvement—involvement in the lives of family and friends, involvement in community, involvement in activities in nature, involvement in active pursuits.

When you feel “hungry” for foods that have taste appeal, but little nourishment, the treatment is also involvement—involvement in activities that nourish the desire for an interesting life. These activities also include being with family and friends, taking part in communal activities, bringing nature closer, and being physically active.

Post 100-foods

When you feel hungry for purposeful living, the treatment is all the things mentioned above and also exploration of spiritual connection.

Hunger is a good thing when it leads to satiation that is appropriate for the hunger type. Nourishment through foods that are meant to be eaten, activities that are meant to uplift, and connections that are meant to bring security and well-being.

Living life in Technicolor!

(taken from my article “Living in Technicolor” on HealingAnswers.com)

Post 127 technicolor

Life is a multi-colored, multi-dimensional experience. Each person’s life is a portrait that presents the richness and fullness of the life. The more a person experiences, the more colorful the portrait. As explained in “Pond a Connected Existence”:

“The moments accumulate and produce the picture that is one’s life. Enriching moments are vibrantly colored; valueless moments are dull and unexceptional….The picture that is one’s life has dimensions: smooth in places that are enriched, jagged in places that are unbecoming, two-dimensional in places where a choice was not made. The form of the picture can be SO large, one simply has to choose to be giving and engaged and willing to participate in a well-lived life. Life that is experienced through true living lights the way for others.”

If each person were to think of his or her life as a painting, they might live life differently. The daily routine may seem colorless, but actually it can be very vibrant if the days are filled with many moments of connection.

How can I add color to my life’s portrait?

Each time a person aids another person, cares for a pet or protects the environment, the portrait is colored vividly. Each time a person scorns another person, abuses an animal or destroys the environment, the portrait is painted in lines that are flat and thin. The better the behavior, the more beautiful the portrait.

Does the length of life affect the portrait?

Yes and no. An infant who dies has not yet had time to accumulate a life portrait. A child’s portrait is affected by the caregivers’ treatment. A young adult begins to accumulate texture and vibrancy in the portrait, especially if the life is a positive force. The more experiences a person has, the more chance for a rich and textured portrait. An older person’s portrait has many layers because the longer a person livesת the more chances to make amends and fix past mistakes.

Can I add texture to my life’s portrait?

Texture is added when a person gives kindness, empathy, and trustability. Texture is also added by facing adversity with resolve and action. Even small displays of these qualities develop the texture in the life portrait.

How does connection to nature affect the portrait?

The more a person is connected to nature, the more vivid and varied the colors in the life portrait. Hiking in the hills adds more color than walking around a mall. However, living in nature to avoid other people does not add to the portrait’s texture.

What about creating a connected portrait with my partner?

Each person has a life portrait. There are no duo portraits. Each person’s feelings are his own, actions are his own, and so on so that combining life portraits is not possible. With that said, there is a possibility of similar sections when the love that is displayed between the two is love that is supportive, accommodating, and devoted.

Conclusion

When we consider the effects our lives can have on the community in which we live and on other people, we often think that our contributions are negligible. If we picture our lives as portraits in progress, then perhaps we will realize how much our actions and involvement matter.

LET’S PAINT!

The picture of perfection?

Post 125 picture almost perfect

“Picture crookedness is life in reality. Crooked smiles, crooked teeth, crooked noses, on and on. No need for photoshopping. Real life—in its imperfecttion and individuality. Life lived in truth, not in denial. Life lived in gulps, not in narrow sips. Life experienced widely, largely, encompassingly!”… from Pond a Connected Existence.

There is no such thing as perfection (by humans), and aiming for perfection is time wasted and effort expended for naught. Perfection is the realm of spirit so people cannot reach it.

Understanding that perfection is unattainable is the first step towards true living. No one has to be perfect at anything. Doing one’s best—yes! Practicing and practicing so that one’s performance is very good –yes! Learning and studying and learning more so that one’s work is done well—yes! Applying oneself wholeheartedly—yes! Settling for mediocre—yes or no depending on the importance of the task. Settling for pretty good—yes or no depending on the importance of the results.

“Picture perfection elicits reactions that are not balanced. Picture perfection generates envy and self-doubt. Output perfection, input covetousness and pining. These inputs can lessen our opinions of ourselves. We think the other has more or is more or does more. We think that we have less or that we fall short. This negative sense of self is mistaken behavior. And it is continuously engineered.” … from Pond a Connected Existence.

Yes, engineered. People are manipulated into buying things because of manipulation of pictures. People are controlled by advertisements that promise perfect results. Ignoring these constant messages is not easy, but is doable when we understand the extent of manipulation and intended control.

The more we understand how much we are manipulated, the more we can be real—a bit crooked, but truly as intended.

Live abundantly. How? Desire less!

Post 123-live abundantly

The way to abundant living is through self-elevating more and complaining less. Complaining raises expectations; self-elevating raises satisfaction.

What does self-elevation mean? Raising oneself by being aware of one’s own abilities and strengths, knowing how to be focused, and knowing how to be appreciative.

Self-elevation requires three things:

  • Living according to intuition and understanding of oneself
  • Being aware of self-imposed stumbling blocks and purposefully removing them
  • Connecting to less

How do I live as I truly am?

You can create a life that is authentic to who you are by noticing how you feel when you do things that un-happy you. Not that you must be happy all the time. That’s not it—at all!

A person can be doing very difficult work, but the work doesn’t cause unhappiness. Only if the work goes against one’s values or against the good of one’s neighbors/community does the work cause unhappiness.

You live an un-unhappy life by cultivating awareness of others’ needs and understanding how their needs and yours are similar. You live an un-unhappy life by cultivating health and healthful living. You live an un-unhappy life by driving yourself to do the things that make you swell with pride and fulfillment.

How can I be aware of my self-imposed stumbling blocks

You build stumbling blocks throughout your life when you internalize negative thoughts from yourself and others. Removing them requires that you realize you are holding yourself back, that you plan action to do the things that are important to you, and that you follow through. Not easy, but doable.

How can I be satisfied with less?

Living with less is key to living abundantly. When you have less stuff, the stuff has more value. This statement does not mean that you have to sell your home and move into a mini-house. It means you can have stuff, but that you minimize it to the stuff you need and that you care for. Collections are fine—even broadening, but not everything needs to be collected and overdone.

When you see something you want to buy, consider whether or not you need it and whether or not is causes you to feel vitalized. These questions can apply to buying almost everything including food, clothes, and electronic equipment. The less you need, the more you appreciate.

Relief from LCD addiction

Post 119-LCD addiction

My friend tells me her 11-year-old son is addicted to his smartphone. I work with children who are addicted to their smartphones, computers, apps, computer games, etc. I know adults who are addicted as well. I am sort of addicted to my computer; I’ll admit it. I sit at the computer to receive words of wisdom from Spiritual Presence, and instead I check my Facebook page, my email, my blog stats, and so on.

I’m turning to Spiritual Presence now to ask what can be done. What can be done about the LCD addiction (the term that will be used to represent addictions to computers, smartphones, etc.)? (Reading an e-book doesn’t count in the LCD addiction definition.) Here is the information I am receiving:

  1. The more time people spend in nature, the less time they will spend with the LCD.
  2. The more time people spend taking part in face-to-face interactions, the less time they will spend with the LCD.
  3. The more time people spend with animals, the less time they will spend with the LCD.
  4. The more that is done for other nonhuman aspects of the world, the more the focus will be off the LCD.
  5. The personal involvement in creative endeavors lessens the grip of the LCD. Creative endeavors includes making music, participating in athletic games, dancing in groups, bringing about artistic creations, actualizing family/friend gatherings, participating in traditional rituals—the list goes on and on. Creating materials to be viewed on the LCD do not count.

What to do:

  1. Plan more outings in nature.
  2. Get together with family and friends in person.
  3. Go to the zoo (if it is a humane zoo) or a petting zoo.
  4. Plant plants.
  5. Find a cause that inspires you and volunteer to help it.
  6. Participate in a group activity that invigorates you.
  7. Find puzzles you like and put them together. If you don’t like puzzles, then learn how to cook an ethnic food that you like (that it not from your ethnicity).
  8. Go for a walk and pick up trash in your neighborhood.
  9. Help, whenever you can.
  10. If you have children, include them in all these things.

Spiritual connection exists within the soul

Post 97-wild flowers

I’m working on book #6, which I mentioned in passing in an earlier post (Yes, I know books 4 and 5 aren’t out yet. Book #5 is in second draft and book #4 is on hold.). The main subject is the soul, and the information I am receiving is exciting.

Here’s a small taste…

“Spiritual connection exists within the soul. It is a bound element that enables the soul to achieve transcendent thought. Spiritual connection enables people to live within the cycling nature of life and to do so in varied and fresh arrangements. Spiritual connection provides capabilities to choose, mold, and direct living that is purposeful and fulfilling. Purposeful and fulfilling can occur without acknowledging the role of spiritual connection, but it is there, with or without the acknowledgement. Spiritual connection exists in all living things, but its binding to the soul is what elevates the possibilities of humans. Despite the interconnectedness of the soul to the body, people function without awareness of the soul’s participation in daily and routine actions…”

Is happiness the goal?

Post 116-life goals

Is happiness the goal? Is monetary success the goal? Is recognition the goal? Is leadership the goal? Is applause the goal?

Happiness, monetary success, recognition, leadership, and applause are aspects of living, but they are not the goals of life. The goals of life are these:

  • Acknowledging the awe that exists in the natural world
Accepting the limitations of our humanness
Assisting others in overcoming their personal difficulties
    Overcoming personal difficulties
Avoiding intentional damage to the environment
    Avoiding intentional damage to ourselves
    Protecting weaker species
Guiding the future generations in the correct ways of living
Assisting others in achieving spiritual awareness
Creating warm and lasting relationships with family members
Creating warm and lasting relationships with chosen friends

from The Gift of Intuitive, Dedicated Comfort.

These goals enable us to be connected to our surroundings, connected to our future, connected to our past, and balanced in our living. These goals steady our focus and guide our actions. These goals lead to contentment and understanding. These goals breathe.

Wanting to be happy is elusive, but wanting to have warm and lasting relationships is nourishing. Wanting monetary success is time-qualified, but wanting to provide for oneself and any dependents is time-extending. Having recognition brings a sense of accomplishment, but guiding future generations in the correct ways of living is true accomplishment. Leading is important, but accepting one’s limitations as a human being is required for true leadership abilities. Applause brings momentary excitement, but spiritual awareness and acknowledgement brings continuous amazement and passion.

Goals are necessary for productive and purposeful living. Large goals are like maps; smaller goals are like road signs. Each showing the way in a world that is unclear without them.

Learned satisfaction

photo083YU4RG

I have spent the last three weeks in Los Angeles imparting Spiritual Presence awareness, connection, and nudging. The transfer of wisdom from Spiritual Presence was through individual sessions with people, an organized energy gathering, get-togethers with friends and relatives, and encounters with people on the plane, in restaurants, and by farmers’ market stalls. A welcome beginning for much more to come.

I have experienced EGC sessions with people who are needing the wisdom that Spiritual Presence can give, and they have been eye-opening, cathartic, and beyond expectation. The people receive specific ways to bring balance and clarity into their lives, and witnessing this process is gratifying and amazing for me. People need the same basic things in life, yet the ways to achieve them are varied and individualized. Connection to Spiritual Presence brings the actions and revised thinking required to live with purpose and satisfaction.

I have been living with a cousin of mine who challenges and expands my connection to understanding and wisdom. Our invigorating conversations have led me to the subject of book #6. It will explore and explain issues of the soul.

I have walked and walked and walked this fascinating city, which has led to further understanding about people, animals, and jumbled living. I have eaten the most wonderful produce purchased at neighborhood farmers’ markets and have mostly eaten vegan and raw foods. My body’s feeling good!

My connection to Spiritual Presence has developed during this time, and I am learning about well-being, forgiveness, and satisfaction. I am grateful to my cousin for introducing me to people who are open to the wisdom that flows through me. I am grateful for my family who supports my new-found purpose.

Heading back home soon with renewed Vitality!

Kindness to the animals we care for: muzzles for dogs

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In the book Pond a Connected Existence, caring for pets in listed as a sustaining activity for people. We are drawn to animals that can be domesticated, and they in turn learn to depend on us. The intertwined existence of people and domesticated animals requires careful observation and empathy by people who care for them.

A few days ago on one of my many lovely walks in L.A., I saw a woman walking several dogs of varying sizes. As I approached them, I saw that the largest dog had a rubber band holding his mouth shut. I also noticed that the supposed-to-be-caring dog walker looked very rushed. As we passed one another, I felt a surge of negativity and so I asked Spiritual Presence about what I had just witnessed. I witnessed injustice, cruelty, and selfishness.

This post is a reminder to people who live with or care for dogs. There are humane ways to prevent a dog from opening his mouth when being walked in public. Muzzles are not injustice and cruelty. Many are made in a somewhat comfortable way that allow the dog to have a somewhat normal experience when being walked.

If you or anyone you know puts a rubber band around a dog’s snout, know that the dog is experiencing injustice, cruelty, and loss of trust in humans. People should know better, and if they don’t then they shouldn’t be caring for dogs.

Vegetable support: the foods that sustain

Post 104-veggies.jpg

Many foods nourish us, but vegetables nourish, ground, and calm us. They provide the nutrients that enable us to move forward.

The importance of vegetables cannot be overstated. Our bodies need them and function less well without them. They are sources of happiness, creativity, expressiveness, achievement, satisfaction, and vitality. Eating vegetables doesn’t guarantee that a person will be satisfied with his or her life, but eating vegetables enables being capable of being satisfied. The more vegetables we eat, the more our bodies can handle.

Vegetables are usually viewed as members of one entire food group or are grouped by type of plant part eaten (leaves, roots, etc.) or by color. Actually, vegetables belong in three groups that are determined by the amounts that should be eaten. Here are the groups:

  1. Beets, broccoli, cabbage (all types), cauliflower, purple bell peppers, romaine lettuce and other leafy greens, spinach, zucchini.
  2. Butternut squash, carrots, pumpkin, watercress, yams, yellow summer squash.
  3. Asparagus, bell peppers, brussel sprouts, celery, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, fennel, green beans, kohlrabi, mushrooms, okra, onions, peas, potatoes, radishes, tomatoes, turnips, water chestnuts.

In this post, the amounts to be eaten are not being presented. Just know that the more, the merrier!

Liquid relief

Post 103-liquids

According to my post “How important is water?” (see January archive): “Water is the most important life-sustaining substance that we put in our bodies.” That post gives information about the timing of water drinking.

There are other liquids that nourish us, and we should drink them too. They are soup (thin soups that can be drunk), tea (green, red, black, oolong, white, jasmine, chai, and cardamom), beer (in non-addictive amounts), and drinks made from soybeans and brown rice. These liquids add nutrients and they add sensations that are different from water and different from solid food. These liquids do not replace water; they are in addition to.

These liquids, together with the influence from listening to music that is uplifting, are elements that nourish the body and the soul.
